  • How do you apply your Teruko Ikeda training in your life and work?

The training has really helped improve my performance at work and has enabled me to become more productive. With the advanced skills in using JAWS, I was also able to work a lot faster and more easily than before. With regard to my personal use, my learnings have  assisted me a lot in carrying out some tasks which I thought I had a limited ability of doing. With the aid of my training, I am now able to pursue further studies at the Univercity and to take courses that I used to only dream of taking. In terms of accessing information, the computer has been a great resource for me especially as I attended workshops, trainings, wrote down minuts of meetings, and fulfilled the leadership role I was assigned in a local organisation for the blind. This personal computer has been a great tool, and the skills I gained from the Teruko-Ikeda-ICT training have made a difference in my personal and professional life.

  • Most memorable experience during the Teruko Ikeda ICT Training

The moment I can never forget is when, on our first day at St. Nicholas Home, Mr. Wong and Christina took us for orientation at the computer laboratory. As we were asked to take our seats at our respective desks, I could hardly contain the excitement I felt when I touched the boxes which were placed before me. What a glorious moment it was when Mr. Wong told us to open the boxes and see what was inside. The brand-new Dell laptop and the JAWS program donated by Ms. Teruko Ikeda are great gifts I will always remember and for which I will always be grateful.

  • Thoughts you’d like to share with everyone

Firstly, special and sincere thanks go out to Ms. Teruko Ikeda, the sponsor of this ICT training. This is an event which made a big change in my life. Secondly, I would like to also thank the organisers, Mr. Tanaka, Mr. Wong, Mrs. Christina, and, most especially, to our great teachers Mr. David Hathaway and Mr. Amir Teh. Thank you all for the great opportunity to be part of the 2010 Intermediate class. You are all living testimonies of a well-known adage I continue to live by. Indeed, "Where there is a will, there is a way."
