Teruko Ikeda ICT Training 2013 Application Closing Date

The Japan Braille Library wishes to gently remind everyone that the closing date for the submission of applications for this year's Teruko-Ikeda-ICT training program is today, 28 February 2013. Applications that have been received after today will not be included in the selection process.

The Japan Braille Library and the entire Teruko Ikeda ICT Group would like to thank those who have sent their application.

Application Is Now Open For The Teruko Ikeda ICT Training 2013

The Japan Braille Library is now accepting applications for the Teruko Ikeda ICT Training 2013. There will be 2 programmes this year: one intermediate level and one advanced level. The intermediate course will be from Sunday, 4 August to Friday, 16 August 2013. The Advanced course will be from Sunday, 18 August to Sunday, 2 September 2013.

Congratulations to the First Visually Impaired Recipient of the Australian Leadership Award Scholarship in Fiji

The entire Teruko Ikeda group would like to congratulate Sovaia Sisi Faktaufon for recently receiving the Australian Leadership Award Scholarship. Sisi, also a former Teruko Ikeda trainee is the first visually impaired recipient of this prestigious award in Fiji.

Sisi will be studying in Australia for a Masters degree in human resource management. Facing and overcoming many challenges in her life, Sisi now aims to take this great opportunity as a huge step in her goal to contribute to the country's work force and the advancement of people with disabilities.

Power of the Sun: An Article About Nyima Wangdue

Here is an article entitled “Power of the Sun”. It is about Nyima Wangdue, the Braille Without Borders Project manager in the Tibet autonomous region, and a 2012 Teruko Ikeda ICT Trainee.

In this inspiring article, Nyima talks about his life, the opportunities he has received, and how he managed to overcome all the trials he has encountered. He also shares his beliefs and his thoughts on the current state of blind people in society.

Remembering Our Friend, Mr. Gazi Abdul Gafur

The entire Teruko Ikeda ICT Group would like to extend their deepest sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Gazi abdul Gafur. Mr. Gazi abdul Gafur, a 2012 Teruko Ikeda trainee, passed away yesterday, August 18, 2012.

To remember Gazi, the group would like to kindly share their thoughts and memories of him, our gentle and lively friend.

The Teruko Ikeda ICT Group has just created a new section on the website. This is the "Resources" page. Here, we provide links to downloadable documents, audio recordings, and other types of electronic data which we have acquired and created during the ICT training.

We will do our best to regularly add new files in the Resources page. We hope you would find these pieces of information useful.

Celebrating the Launch of the Teruko Ikeda ICT Group Website

Today, July 27, 2012, we are launching the website of the Teruko Ikeda ICT Group (www.TerukoIkedaICT.org). What started as a little idea and a proposal by two of the group’s members is now a reality. And as we celebrate this God-given victory, we would like to thank all the men and women who have generously given their support to the training program and have made this website possible.
